Lavant House School - Independent school for girls

17th May 2010

Simply Speech

Performances by the Speech and Drama pupils will take place at 4.30pm on Wednesday, 19th May, in the school gym.

Marwell Zoo

Pupils in years 3-6 will be visiting Marwell  Zoo on Friday 21st.  Please can girls remember to bring their waterproof jackets and wellies just in case.

Next Friday

As the Marwell trip is not due back at school until 4pm, there will be no assembly next Friday.

History of the House

Mrs Carlyse will be talking to Years 5 & 6 on Wednesday morning about the history of Lavant House.  It will be very interesting to learn about the house in the days before it became a school.

Cheeky Monkeys

Pupils will receive details of the challenges next week.  I hope that we are able to have a fun filled day and raise money for this very worthwhile cause.

Medicine

In order to keep up to date with the current regulations, a written note needs to accompany any medication that children bring into school.  The note must clearly state the time and dosage to be given.

Match Report

On Wednesday afternoon the U10 Rounders team played Pennthorpe School.  As soon as the match started it was clear that Pennthorpe were very strong at fielding, threw accurately over long distances and rarely missed a catch!  This made it very hard to score many rounders.  In the second half Lavant ran faster when batting and tried hard to improve their fielding.  Unfortunately it was not enough and Pennthorpe won the match 27 Rounders to 5.  Well done to all players for keeping up their team spirit throughout the match.  The player of the match was Katie.

The U11 team played in a triangular match yesterday afternoon against Oakwood and Great Ballard.  In their first match the scores were close in the first innings but Lavant's batting in the second innings was much better and they won by 13 to 7.  The match against Great Ballard was very short as we had run out of time.  With only 5 minutes for an innings Lavant played well to score 5 and a half rounders.  Great Ballard fought back strongly but Lavant held on to a half rounder advantage to win 5 and a half to 5.

Next Week's Matches

There will be a rearranged match next Tuesday against Alton Convent.  It will be held on Tuesday afternoon at 4.15pm.  I have included girls from Year 6 who are available and then moved to Year 5.  Any year 6 girls not playing on Tuesday will play on Wednesday against Conifers away at 2pm. Year 5 and Year 6 girls will make up the team in this mixed match.
