Pottery classes at Lavant House
Pottery Classes at Lavant House
On Thursday 24th November Art mistress Ms Elizabeth Jones attended a clay workshop at Lavant House School, with 12 of year six students from Oakwood School. Children spent the afternoon drawing fish and adapting their designs to each make a clay fish dish. They watched demonstrations and then rolled out clay embossing designs into the surface. These will then be fired and glazed by Lavant House. "The pupils were so excited to be visiting another school and it provided a valuable chance to see the work of another Art Department." Ms Jones said. The children were very attentive and keen to do their best work. We are very lucky here at Lavant House to have two kilns to fire ceramic work, the pupils really enjoyed working in clay and we look forward to running more workshops in the near future.
