Juniors visit to Lavant Church, February 2011
Last Friday, pupils in Year 1 and 2 at Lavant House visited a very important local building. The girls have been many times before, it is where the Christmas nativity is performed and the various end of term services are held. However, this was the first time they had visited and really looked.
The girls have been studying religious buildings as part of their Religious Education this term. 'Aha!' they thought when asked to think of any local buildings of religious significance. Lavant House is very proud to have wonderful, strong links with both of the churches in the village. The girls, were very lucky to have a guided tour of the beautiful St Mary's Church, delivered by Reverend Canon David Parker.
This opportunity was of huge benefit as the girls were able to see many of the features of a church that they had been learning about in class. They all arrived back at school full of the interesting details that they had discovered about a place that we often visit but rarely examine!
