Poetry Cafe
Lavant House's Poetry Café was open once again on Thursday, 7th October to celebrate National Poetry Day. Students from the oldest to the youngest enjoyed a coffee shop style lunch and poetry readings in order to share their love of literature whilst raising funds for St Wilfrid's Hospice.
Earlier in the day in order to mark the association between Lavant village and the romantic poet William Blake, there was an 80 voice recitation of his words from 'Jerusalem'. Legend has it that Blake was inspired to write the words of this much loved poem as he looked over the downs from mid-Lavant over England's "green and pleasant land".
