Lavant House School - Independent school for girls

Cheeky Monkey Day

Just before half-term, pupils at Junior Lavant House took part in a marathon of fundraising events. Children unleashed their inner Cheeky Monkeys in aid of the charity Childhood Leukaemia, raising £300.00.

All of the pupils got into the spirit of the day by arriving at school dressed as monkeys, they then spent the day participating in a variety of challenges.  Friends and family sponsored pupils to complete as many monkey related challenges as they could, all proceeds going to this deserving cause. Tasks ranged from sitting for 10 minutes with a banana balanced on your head, naming 26 parts of the body, fitting 26 items in a match box and running around the school grounds backwards.  26 was a key number on the day, being the number of miles run in a marathon. Whilst the challenges were not quite as arduous as a marathon, they certainly tested pupils' concentration!

Although the day was full of merriment and cheer, there was a deeply serious reason for all of the fun, Childhood Leukaemia is Britain's biggest cancer and causes a lot of heartache for children and families affected. Childhood Leukaemia is a charity close to the hearts of pupils at Lavant House, clear to see, from the generous response.
