Junior visit to Marwell Zoo June 2010
Pupils in KS2 at Lavant House recently had a wonderful day visiting Marwell Zoo. The visit was made to further the girls' knowledge and understanding of how a variety of animals adapt to their habitats. The girls thoroughly enjoyed walking around the zoo, finding out about each of the interesting animals and the unusual ways in which some of them make the most out of their surroundings. It seemed that every animal we encountered was more exciting than the last and it was difficult to keep track of favourite species!
After a well-earned picnic in the park's grounds, we headed over to the education centre for some hands-on learning. Our guide talked us through a selection of animals that live in different environments. We were able to handle different animal skins, a stick insect and gecko.
