Scholarships & Bursaries
Scholarships
Academic scholarships are awarded at 11+, 13+, and for the Sixth Form and are not dependent on financial circumstances. A scholarship may be enhanced up to a total of 50% of the Day fee by an additional bursary.
All pupils wishing to enter the senior school at Form I (Year 7), including those from our own Junior Department, should register to sit our assessment tests in Mathematics, English, Verbal Reasoning and Non-Verbal Reasoning in the January preceding entry. Generally one or two 11+ scholarships are awarded based on the results of these tests.
Any girls wishing to be considered for a 13+ academic scholarship (both internal and external candidates) should register with the school. The scholarship examinations take place at the end of January. One 13+ scholarship is usually available.
Sixth Form scholarships are awarded on the results of the school mock GCSE examinations in February each year. External candidates are required to sit some of the same papers and submit their own mock results.
We regularly award Music scholarships. Girls normally be expected to be proficient in two instruments and to show considerable musical potential.
Bursaries
The school has limited funds available to help those in financial need. Bursary awards are made to deserving pupils and are subject to a confidential statement of financial circumstances. The parent of any pupil or potential pupil requiring such assistance should contact the Headmistress.
Other bursaries may be for varying amounts depending on parents' income and financial position, but the maximum award is 50% of the Day fee.
For pupils entering the senior school in Form I (Year 7) bursaries would normally only be awarded to extend a scholarship. At other stages in the school bursaries may be available to families who suffer unforeseen financial difficulties.
