Lavant House School - Independent school for girls

Learning at Lavant House Sixth

Our Year 11 girls follow a smooth transition into the Sixth form, one in which the girls have time to adjust to more adult learning and teaching styles. We are traditional yet have a modern outlook and offer a wide range of enjoyable and rewarding A level courses. At the beginning of the school year the Sixth form enjoy a one day Teamwork and Leadership course at an off-site activities centre. The day is geared at encouraging co-operation and co-ordination through a variety of exciting tasks and is run by professional instructors

Care is taken to offer each member of the Sixth form a role of responsibility within the school, ranging from Head Girl, House Captains, Sports Captain, and lower School Mentors to Head of School Council. These opportunities for leadership are all important factors when it comes to writing meaningful personal statements for UCAS applications. The Sixth form is heavily involved and pro-active in fundraising for charities, leading by example and encouraging the participation of the rest of the school in such activities. There are also opportunities to run lower school clubs and activities in, for example, Enterprise, Dance, School Year book, Debating and acting as Teaching Assistants in Junior Lavant.

Both lower and upper Sixth have comfortable common rooms equipped for both private study and an area for relaxation. Each girl has her own personalised timetable enabling all students to follow their chosen course.
