Junior Lavant
Our Junior School has three distinct areas:
Foundation Class
Our Foundation Class, for boys and girls offers a fantastic start to school life. Children may join at the start of the term in which their third birthday falls. Small numbers ensure a very high degree of care and Foundation children have their own classrooms and protected outdoor play area, although they can also benefit from our beautiful and extensive grounds.
Foundation children, if staying for lunch, eat at tables with their teachers in our main dining room, reinforcing the importance of good manners early on.
Areas in the Foundation classrooms are designed for focused work and play and all Foundation children make a start with French!
Gentle learning and lots of play provide an excellent start of school life.

Pre-Prep - Years 1 and 2
At this stage the majority of the lessons are taught by the class teacher. Music, French and a part of the PE curriculum are taught by specialist teachers. By the time the children leave pre-prep House, the aim is that they are confident fluent readers and have a sound mathematical grounding.
Prep - Years 3 - 6
Once girls move up into the Prep department at Junior Lavant, English, Maths and Science are also taught by specialist teachers as well as French, ICT, Music and PE. We work hard with the girls to ensure a sound knowledge in the core subjects and teach them an excellent range of skill. Girls in Year Six are taught by senior school specialists in some subjects, ensuring a smooth transfer into the senior school.
